Warning Signs

When You Need a New Kitchen Island

Lots of New Lenox kitchens are small. Older ones near downtown have no room to move. If you keep bumping into counters, or have no spot for a hot pan, an island fixes that. Homes in Spencer's Crossing and Bradshaw Farms often have old 90s layouts. These layouts waste space in the middle of the room. We've also seen folks in Cherry Hill want a waterfall quartz island as the star of a full remodel. An island gives you prep space, seating, and storage in one spot[1]. Waiting just means more years of a kitchen that doesn't work for you. One thing most people don't realize is how much a bad layout slows down daily life.

Common Needs

No Prep Space

If your counters are always full, an island gives you room to cook without the mess.

Old Layout

Older homes near downtown often need a smarter layout to fit an island.

Need More Storage

Islands add cabinets and drawers for pots, pans, and small gadgets you're tired of hiding.

Want a Gathering Spot

Seats at the island turn your kitchen into the party spot.

Adding a Sink or Cooktop

We run plumbing and wiring to add a second sink or cooktop right in the island.

Upgrading to Sell

A well-built island with a quartz or granite top adds real value when you sell.

Trust Factors

Why New Lenox Trusts Us for Island Installation

A poorly planned island can block paths, clash with your cabinets, or fail inspection. We've worked with Will County plumbing and electrical rules for years. We measure twice, plan around your space, and get permits sorted before we touch a wall. In our experience, this step saves homeowners a lot of stress later.

Bill was fantastic to work with. I had an idea in mind what I wanted for my small laundry room, but unsure how to make it all work. His idea to add a deep, panty-like cabinet to fit vacuums, mops, and ironing board worked out perfectly. The pull-out drawers for soaps, the steamer, the iron, and many other essentials have been so convenient for storage. I will use him for my next project.
Thank you so much for your excellent work. I will definitely use your services for my next project.

After another contractor flaked out, Bill went above and beyond to finish our kitchen remodel. He didn’t stop until we were completely satisfied. He is unmatched when it comes to customer satisfaction.

We are extremely pleased to have discovered RBI. Initially, we were set on re-facing, but something felt off. Once we met Bill, everything changed. They made a minor reconfiguration that enhanced the functionality of my kitchen. They provided us with high-quality all-wood cabinetry and finishes that we thought were beyond our budget. Bill also sourced a stunning quartz countertop for us. Remarkably, the total cost was almost the same as the re-facing option. Additionally, they painted our kitchen, upgraded our electrical system, repaired our tile floor, installed new lighting, and assisted us in acquiring a new microwave hood and dishwasher. The products, craftsmanship, and pricing were all excellent. We had a fantastic experience!

Common Questions

Kitchen Island Installation Questions

Here are answers to the questions New Lenox homeowners ask most.

  • How much does a kitchen island cost?

Most New Lenox jobs run between $3,500 and $15,000 or more. The price depends on cabinets, countertops, and plumbing or wiring needs. We'll give you an exact price after a free estimate.

  • How long does it take to put in a kitchen island?

A basic island can take two to four days. Adding plumbing, wiring, or custom cabinets can stretch it to one or two weeks. We give you a clear timeline before we start.

  • Can I put in a kitchen island myself?

You can, for a simple island with no hookups. But if you want plumbing or wiring, you'll need a licensed pro. Will County needs permits for that kind of work. We'd rather tell you the truth upfront than fix a mistake later.

  • How is an island different from a peninsula?

An island stands alone in the middle of the kitchen, with space all around it. A peninsula connects to a counter on one end. We help you pick what fits your space best.

  • Do I need a permit for an island with plumbing?

Yes. If you're moving or adding plumbing lines, New Lenox needs a permit from the Village. We handle that paperwork for you.

  • What signs mean my kitchen needs an island?

If you're short on counter space, storage, or seating, an island can fix it. Older homes near downtown New Lenox often need this the most. We see this problem almost every week.

  • Can a new island match my old cabinets?

Yes, we can match your island to your current cabinets. Some folks like a different color to make it pop. We'll show you samples before you choose.
